Great Bronco Add On......But there are connection issues......

The Lighted Bronco Grille Letters seem well made and look great at this point of having just been installed. BUT......
I am constantly amazed at how these things occur with products anymore, but here is the problem: the supplied fuse add/tap to connect the positive feed in the Bronco engine compartment fusebox DOESN'T FIT!!!!!.

First of all, the way the sides of the cover close in a "finger jointed" fashion- the wire will get damaged, not to mention it appears a sloppy installation.
The main or worst problem is that Ford-for whatever reason-placed "ribs" inside the fusebox all around most fuse groups, AND the clearance above the fuses to the underside of the fusebox cover is LESS THAN 1/8". The service people at my Ford Dealership agreed that it almost appears Ford does not invite adding circuits in the engine bay fuse box. A friend-a Penn State Electrical Engineer- stopped by while I was enjoying this dilemma and agrees completely.

So what occurs is that you cannot get the Mini 2 add-a-fuse tap to fit in most configurations (position 25 in instructions) because the tap wire hits an adjacent rib or fuse in the Bronco fusebox, AND THE FUSE TAP PROTRUDES TOO HIGH TO PROPERLY CLOSE THE LID OF THE FUSEBOX. Note here that add-a-fuses have an orientation issue where they must be installed with the feed terminal correctly lined up with the "feed" tap terminal- or you are not going to feed the added fuse and will have to turn the tap around.
So you cannot properly close the fusebox. Will not close and snap shut. If you want to just let it sit there, I would not suggest that. Nor does the Ford dealership. Forcing it is unwise, and it pops open again.....

I went to the trouble of providing a neat hole for access in the interior curved portion of the fusebox and the lid with a butyl rubber grommet to properly get the wire into the fusebox- ONLY TO DISCOVER THE LID CLEARANCE ISSUE!
Not happy at that point.
I have photos of everything, including the clearance issue.
I placed a small blob of electrical putty in the fusebox and closed it, then re-opened it to retrieve the putty and measure with a vernier caliper. - .120" above the fuses.
IN PUTCO'S INSTRUCTIONS AND IN THEIR ONLINE YOUTUBE VIDEO THIS IS GLOSSED OVER!!!
The lighted Bronco letter "module" appears well engineered and made, but it would appear that the connection issue was "fast tracked" and not given the attention it should have been given. After all, Putco installed a few of these first, I am assuming. But you know what they say about "assume"...
Why was this not addressed, so that the customer didn't face "engineering" a solution?

My second "gripe" is that the leads from the Letter module should be about 6" longer, because they terminate right at the radiator core frame and if they were a little longer they could be hidden behind side of battery. The weatherpak connectors are great, but a little bulky with 5 at that point.

I will offer my solution which I was forced to seek:
Remove from annular wire protector and extend + power red wire by properly soldering and heat shrink tubing longer piece #16 red AWG wire to pass through provided Bronco firewall/interior rubber grommet. Use Fuse position #18 in inside fuse box. it is a micro 3 - 7.5A fuse-which is really two separate fuses to save space (why is unknown-these micro fuses are already so small they cannot be pulled with a regular fuse puller).
Fuse #18 is 7.5A and is marked as "spare", so amperage and availability line up here.
Center fuse position is feed/power switched by ignition. Place add-a-tap fuse in left and center "fuse lugs" in fusebox-leaving the right one unused. Ensure tap feed lug is in fusebox lug center position. Do not add pulled fuse in tap because it is a micro 3 fuse and will not fit, plus it isn't necessary.
You will need to install a new weatherpak connector on your +red power lead to connect to the Bronco light harness. I have the tools and many spare ones in my stock, but you may need to seek a friend with tool-or utilize a different connector which you have,
Now when key is on-Bronco Grille Lights come on in manner you select with the 4 ground wires.

I am very pleased with the product now that it is installed, but the issues above should not have presented themselves, in my opinion. Putco- issue a change for your customers!!!
